50th Reunion Weekend: A Great Time Had by All

Back when we were students at Cleveland Heights High School, our January 1957 class was known more for the "small in size" part of its motto, but you’d never know it from the great attendance at our 50th class reunion.

Held in Cleveland Heights and Beachwood, Ohio, June 30-July 1, 2007, the reunion saw 83 classmates (out of 207 who graduated 50 years earlier) attend a gala dinner at The Oakwood Club, Saturday, June 30. The next day, sixty came to Sunday brunch at The Village Party Center in Beachwood. Quite a few private get-togethers took place the previous Friday, as people arrived in Cleveland after traveling here from all over the country.

50th reunion committee chairperson Chuck (“Mr. Reunion”) Lissauer was gratified to see the large number of attendees, some of whom had never been to any of the previous reunions we held every 10 years. Some had been missing – we were never able to find them, but perseverance paid off, they were located, they were contacted -- and they came.

At the weekend's events, a great time was had by all, as people reconnected, passed around pictures of grandchildren and got caught up on all that had happened in their lives since the last time they had seen one another – for some, that was 50 years ago!

Meeting several weeks later, our committee recommended the next reunion event be scheduled just five years from now – suggesting that an informal affair be held -- perhaps a picnic or something similar. We're open to any suggestions and would welcome your ideas; let us hear from you. Details will be sent to you as they become finalized.

Our 50th Reunion Committee

Three cheers to our 50th reunion committee, 19 of our classmates, all of whom worked very hard for well more than a year to put together the dinner and brunch, communicate with classmates, produce a celebratory DVD presentation, and -- last but not least-- pay for everything.

Committee members include: Eileen Kahn Drechsler, Richard Friedman, Marilyn Caplow Nudelman, Joni Diamond London, Gayle Polacek Singerman, Roberta (Bobbi) Finkle Thal, Frances Lapine Rosenthal, Chuck Lissauer (chairperson), Herb Braun, Diana Richter Turoff, Beth Bassett Rosenblum, Gene Elconin, Gary Melsher, Mel Vogel, Sheila Malkes Mahler, Barbara Brofman Goldfarb, Barbara Bloom Tuber, Norton London, and Phyllis Pressman Benjamin.
