My first blog submission
This is my first opportunity to add comments to our blogsite and I'm really pleased that this has happened. After I attended our 50th reunion in June I started to think about all the people I had lost touch with over the years. Living in La Jolla California didn't give me much opportunity to have contact and I missed that. So, once I arrived home I began to think of ways to maintain contact. The obvious and easiest way was via the internet. So I called my old friend Mel Vogel and expressed some of my thoughts to him about "keeping the ball rolling" in terms of ongoing contact amongst and between classmates both in Cleveland and those of us who have scattered to the four corners of the U.S. and beyond.
Mel responded immediately and begain to investigate the possible ways of handling this idea. I cannot thank Mel enough for picking up the ball and running with it. As of this writing, I believe we are well on our way to having a fluid blog site that will allow all who choose to do so, communicate with anyone in the class that can receive blog communications. I know that Mel will be following up with much info on how, when and where to do this. So, I look forward to hearing in general about the comings, goings and happenings of our classmates and the direct contact with individuals as each one desires.
Meanwhile, I have resumed a fairly active travel schedule following a brain bleed that I had about two and one-half years ago (thank G-d) I made a 95% recovery with only a small peripheral vision problem to mark the incident. Carol and I took our 8 Toronto grandchildren to Mont Treblant for a week in August and followed that with a couple weeks touring Prague and Budapest. October found us in San Francisco visiting with our 3 grandchildren and their parents from Israel. December found me back in Toronto for 8 days during Hanukah and a snow storm. It registered some memories of winters in Cleveland.
2008 will find us in Hawaii celebrating our anniversary on the big island. So far for 2008 we have also planned a trip with our grandchildren and their parents from Israel to do a safari in August in Tanzania and then some beach time in Zanzibar. The rest of our year will be filled in with Toronto, San Francisco and possibly South America.
I hope this finds everyone well and my best wishes for continued good health. I'm also looking forward to this blog site providing a liquid avenue of communication for our Class of '57.
Best regards,
Ron Fox
